Regulated Training & Assurance Consultant

An opportunity has become available for a full time Regulated Training and Assurance Consultant. The role is situated within our Customer Quality & Assurance Team at our Head Office in Newport.

The role will monitor the changes in regulation, working collaboratively with Line 2 Risk & Compliance to develop and deliver training materials to ensure the Society remains compliant with regulatory requirements. It will act as a support to the direct mortgage function, to achieve its business objectives through undertaking quality assurance & monitoring of mortgage cases. Ensuring that the Mortgage Advisors adhere to regulatory requirements to deliver excellent service standards at every customer interaction by consistently following the Society’s service process.

Along with delivery of regulatory training, the role will also include providing regular detailed feedback and coaching on how to improve performance and soft skills and ensure positive, effective working relationships with home insurance sellers, Mortgage Advisors and Team Managers are maintained.

The successful candidate will be CeMap qualified and will have evidence of ongoing professional development. They will have significant experience within the financial / banking service, experience of communicating and maintaining strong business relationships with managers and staff at all levels and significant experience within a training / quality assurance role.  

In addition the holder will have excellent knowledge of MCOB, an understanding of a Building Society industry, specifically regulatory knowledge relating to mortgage advice.

The Society is looking for a flexible candidate who is able to work autonomously and on their own initiative, with excellent written and verbal communication skills, an ability to establish effective relationships and influence colleagues cross functionally without reporting lines.

From the most humble of beginnings the Society has grown into a large and highly efficient organisation.


The Society was founded by a group of local businessmen on the evening of Saturday, January 23, 1869. On May 7 that year the Society granted its first loans, £200 to Mr John Hellier of 6 Tunnel Terrace and £150 to Mr James McBean, a bootmaker of 118 Commercial Road.


Since that time the Society has served the people of Newport and surrounding areas through two world wars, two turns of the century and seen Newport grow from a population of 26,000 people and 3,900 properties to its present size. Today the Society provides a range of Savings and Mortgage products to an increasing number of people throughout South Wales.
