Technical Manager
Location: Cardiff - Finsbury Food Group
Work Days: Monday-Friday (37.5 hours a week)
Report to: Site Director
Salary: Competitive

We are excited to be offering an excellent opportunity for an experienced Technical Manager to join Finsbury Food Group. The successful candidate will be joining a new team to help set up a new business in Cardiff. The role will entail putting in place the right systems and processes aligned to the new business and support its growth. As this is a broad standalone role, we’re looking for a Technical Manager that has significant experience across Technical areas such as Quality, Process, Auditing and systems, and training and has a strong desire to be part of a new business. 

Some of the Role Key Accountabilities are:

  • Put in place effective quality systems and processes
  • Manage customer and third-party audits to achieve and maintain accreditation standards
  • Ensure all Technical manufacturing processes comply with relevant internal standards and those set by regulatory authorities.
  • Completing and setting up the monitoring of site individual KPI’s within the technical department
  • Establish and maintain procedures for reporting, investigating, recording and analysing non-conformances and complaints.
  • Act as key contact with customers and potential customers in all technical issues including responses to complaints and delivering a reduction plan to resolve and respond to customer issues and inquiries.
  • Act as a catalyst for change and improvement in performance and quality throughout the business, identifying improvements and solving technical or processing problems as they arise.
  • Provide technical knowledge and support to the introduction of new products, processing methods and manufacturing equipment.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with Food Safety, Legality and Quality Systems

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Broad Technical Management experience gained in the food industry and manufacturing
  • Experience of working with big retailers and customers
  • Knowledgeable in regulatory affairs, current legislation, quality systems and retailer standards, compliance and Quality Assurance
  • Team management and supervision across a range of people practices
  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent in Food Science, Microbiology or a related discipline

Desirable:

  • Competent in management customers and audits
  • Experience in managing and implementing change, new ways of working that have led to increased performance and efficiency
  • Strong computer literacy, with good use of Excel and spreadsheets

  • Strong communications skills, that is clear and positive with both internal and external customers
  • Willing to take a flexible approach to work and comfortably work as an individual in order to get the job done
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and has confidence initiating new ideas and change initiatives that support the delivery of performance and goals
  • To be a strong member of the site team, with the ability to develop strong working relationships to enable the team deliver success
  • A strong decision maker who is comfortable making difficult decisions when required
  • Is driven to succeed and work productively in a demanding and pressurised environment, whilst maintaining a positive outlook
  • Sets high standards for quality of work, and able to work in a methodical way in order to achieve goals and KPI’s
  • Takes ownership of delivery of work and is able to manage time and priorities effectively to meet performance deadlines and milestones
