Furnace Banc provides temporary supported accomodation for adults who have been involved with Criminal Justice Services. There are 8 units of accommodation and people referred to us are 18+ and are referred through the National Probation Service and Local Housing options . To access supported housing at Furnace Banc those individuals that are referred are expected to engage in solutions focused housing related support and be motivated to change. It is expected that individuals are also willing to engage with specialist services where there are specific needs identified at assessment or during their time in supported housing.

You will be part of a solutions focused and effective support team working alongside Support Workers to provide key support services to people living in temporary supported accommodation at Furnace Banc. No two days will be the same; you will need to be comfortable with variety, problem solving and change, promote inclusion, have personal resilience, and be able to stay calm under pressure.

This position will include shift patterns and sleep ins on a rota basis

As an Annualised Hours Support Assistant you will be required to work flexibility to cover staff leave. The job offers a diverse role with a consistent salary, working a variety of shifts, whilst providing opportunities for personal and career development. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start their career within support work and also for more experienced support assistants to develop their skills and experience working with  in a supported housing environment.

Overtime opportunities are available.

Being a car owner and driver is essential.

  • You’ll have relevant experience in housing issues faced by people referred to Supporting People services and how to resolve these.
  • You’ll have recent experience of supporting people and attending appointment with the service user
  • You’ll be a great team player and be able to work alone and to take the initiative in decision making.
  • You’ll have experience of working with vulnerable people, and be able to motivate and support people to ensure that wherever possible they retain or gain power and control of their life.
  • You must have good written and verbal communication skills, and numeracy skills
  • Work in partnership with external agencies
  • Use your skills and talents to engage with the client group
