Hours of work Monday to Thursday, 8:00am – 4.30pm with a 3.00pm finish on Friday

As Purchasing Manager you will be responsible for sourcing production materials, consumable goods as well as supplier services. The successful candidate will be able to perform strategic procurement activities across multiple categories of spend, search for better deals and find more profitable suppliers to enhance business margins, whilst improving services.

The role also has responsibility for the management of material planning and control and direct management responsibility for the Purchasing Team. This role reports directly to the General Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
 Management of the materials planning and purchasing team
 In partnership with the Supply Chain Department, develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies
 Track and report key functional metrics
 Implement appropriate negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms
 Delivery of agreed saving plans
 Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation
 Forecast price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier relationships
 Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking
 Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers
 Determine quantity and timing of deliveries
 Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand
 Management of stock
 Stock and supplier KPIs
 Place all orders for products ensuring clear and sufficient technical instructions are given
 Overall responsibility for outsourced stock including stocking levels, the undertaking of stock checks and management of stock management systems

Skills and experience:
 Experience in a similar role, ideally within furniture manufacturing
 CIPS Qualified and understand the latest purchasing and materials management techniques
 Strong sourcing and supplier management experience
 Working knowledge of the evaluation, assessment and re-evaluation of suppliers within ISO9001
 Experience of ERP systems, Syspro would be advantageous
 Proven negotiator who uses strategies in pursuit of delivering cost benefits to the business
 Ability to gather and analyse data and to work with figures
 Solid judgement along with decision-making skills
 Strong leadership capabilities with a collaborative approach
 History of innovative thinking
 Departmental management experience
