New Business Executive - Swansea

Business Role Type: Contact Centre Role

Contact Centre Departments: Inbound Sales Swansea

Location: Swansea Vale

Role Start Date: 09/01/2017

Salary: £14,500 + average incentive earnings of £3,000 PA (potentially up to £6,000 PA) + £3,600 free company shares PA + excellent Admiral benefits

At Admiral we believe that people who like what they do, will do it better, and we are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our fast growing New Business department.

Having been listed in The Sunday Times Best Big Companies to Work for, as well as in the Financial Times list of 50 Best Workplaces in the UK and the 100 Best Workplaces in the EU, it should come as no great surprise to hear our staff thoroughly enjoy working here.

Matthew Evans joined Admiral 13 years ago and now works as a Sales Executive in our Swansea Vale office.

The 36-year-old from Pontarddulais said he appreciates the friendly culture at Admiral and the opportunity to earn significant bonuses and incentives on top of his basic salary.

Matthew said: “It is a fun place to work and a good working environment.

“Everyone is happy to help each other out and working here has helped pay for my wedding, holidays and a house.

“I’ve looked at other jobs similar to this and it just doesn’t compare.”

So, with this is mind, would you like to be a part of our ever growing team?

About the role:

New Business at Admiral is all about making sure that our customer’s first experience of us is an excellent one. Most of our customers will have already sourced a quotation from the internet and will be calling to purchase their insurance for the year. Your role will be to make sure their first impression, is a lasting one and the beginning of a long relationship with ourselves. The people you will be speaking to are interested in what we have to offer, so your role will be to make sure, (by applying the training we provide), that they leave us with an insurance package to suit their needs.

When customers call, you'll tell them all about our insurance products so they can tailor their policy to meet their personal car insurance requirements, before accurately inputting details on our systems as you close the sale. It's a sales role with a difference, callers want to buy! Our team is a happy, content one. In fact, once people join the sales team they tend to stick around. Why? Because success at Admiral isn't about being aggressive or pushy – it's about making sure every customer finds their perfect fit and after your comprehensive training, you'll be perfectly placed to do just that.

It goes without saying that you will have a first rate phone manner – polite, considerate, articulate and driven. You'll also need IT skills (internet and basic data entry), bags of initiative, and genuine keenness to keep learning, solve problems and find answers for our customers. You will be a great listener, show outstanding product knowledge and be able to match our product to our customers' needs. You'll need to be flexible too, and open to new ideas and varied working hours.

About us:

As the only FTSE 100 company in Wales, and currently 6th in The Sunday Times Best Big Companies to Work For, Admiral is a passionate, profitable and fast-growing financial services company.

Based on innovation and organic growth Admiral has grown from being a small start-up into one of the largest car insurance providers in the UK.   The company is constantly investigating new products, services and markets and is now in seven countries with a diverse product portfolio.

Admiral’s success goes hand-in-hand with having a strong people focused culture. We believe that happy people make happy customers and happy customers help increase profits. Our philosophy is a simple yet effective one: people who enjoy what they do, do it better.

Our more than 8,600 employees are right at the heart of our success. We put a lot of effort and investment into making sure our organisation is a happy place to work, where challenge and career development are encouraged and fun is never frowned upon.  Admiral has an honest, open culture that’s wholeheartedly focused on four key areas: communication, equality, reward and fun.

About your career:

Admiral is dedicated to making sure that the majority of our promotions are filled internally across the company.  In our New Business department 100% of our promotions to Team and Operations manager are internal.  This means you are our future.

About your benefits:

Admiral provide an excellent staff benefits package (even if we do say so ourselves!).

This includes up to £3,600 free shares each year.  Did you know that since we started our staff share scheme, we have given away over 20 million shares to our staff? During 2015 a total of £17.7m worth of shares were awarded to employees. I think we can safely say you will definitely share in our success!

Here are some more thoughts from staff working in the New Business department in Swansea.

Contact centre call handler Christina Cox joined us in November last year and said she is keen to develop a career with the Admiral Group.

Christina, 23, lives at home and is hoping to eventually move into her own house with the financial assistance of Admiral’s share scheme available to all employees.

She said: “Being my age now it is hard to put money aside for a house, my shares will help towards that.

“I’ve made so many friends here and there are people of all ages in my team.

“It is one of the best places I’ve worked for, if you have a problem someone will always help you out.”

Alison Thomas joined Admiral at the age of 48 and said she has made lifelong friends working for us.

Five years later Alison is now working in our compliance team monitoring calls and said: “I hadn’t even turned a computer on before I came to work here and now I’ve even got one at home.

“There’s plenty of training for everybody, you are not rushed and if you need extra help it is always there for you.

“You are given all the tools you need to do your job.”

Our benefits are far reaching and range from discounts with local and national retailers, through to interest free train and bus season ticket loans (we are really easy to get to).  You will also have staff and family discount (10% or more) on our range of products.

We offer convenient and cheap city centre parking on evenings and weekends, interest free buy a bike scheme (up to £1,000) – you can lock your bike up at our offices and shower if needed – plus free fruit every day and free gym use.  For those of you thinking ahead, we also have a great pension scheme.

Our buy-a-book scheme allows you to buy books to enhance your personal development and we will meet that cost.

There’s an onsite canteen with a wide range of food and if you step outside the building there are nearby cafes, restaurants and shops.

Company Description

Our story – one of amazing growth and inspired innovation – starts in Wales back in 1993 with one brand, zero customers and 57 people. You can see how we grew here. Today, we specialise in providing low cost car insurance for younger drivers, people living in cities and those driving performance cars.

Our parent company, The Admiral Group, is the only FTSE 100 company in Wales, and owns Confused.com and many more. We're profitable, low-risk, strongly cash generative and have grown every year since we started, with a whopping turnover of £2.2billion in 2012 alone.

That's just the start... we're also a great company to work for. That's why you'll regularly find us high up in any list of the UK's 100 best places to work. We've been listed for the last ten years in the Sunday Times list of the 100 Best Companies to Work For, and for the last eleven years in the Financial Times list of 50 Best Workplaces in the UK and 100 Best Workplaces in the EU
