Who are we?
reach strives to make a real difference to people's lives by putting people first and shaping our service around each and every individual. We have experience of supporting people with learning disabilities, autism, mental health conditions 'challenging behaviour' and complex needs, as well as providing care and support for older people. These roles are part of our Intensive Support Worker team, and our New Inn Service is brand new, so we are looking to build a new team.
What will you do?
You will be part of a more specialist team within reach, who work with individuals who are assessed as having complex needs/challenging behaviours, and Autism. Your role will be to work in accordance with a Positive Behavioural Support (PBS) approach, designed to proactively support individuals to maximise their choices and take as much control as possible over their lives. This will involve you supporting individuals to integrate as fully as possible within a community setting, to liaise with Family members, health professionals and members of the multi-disciplinary team. You will play a crucial role in providing support that is individually tailored for everyone; taking on board their preferences, their abilities as well as their needs in order to enable them to become as independent as possible.
Ideally, the successful candidate will have previous experience of using Active Support as a model and equally, of using a wide range of recognised communication methods (such as TEACCH and/or Inclusive Communication). If you do not already have this experience, training can be provided. Equally, you will be given the opportunity to complete the Level 3 Advanced Certificate in Positive Behavioural Support online as part of your ongoing development if you do not already hold this qualification.
Given the complexity of needs of individuals being supported, you must have the ability and confidence to work in accordance with a Support Plan and the methods detailed within it.
Importantly, you must be a team player (and able to work flexibly and consistently), naturally enthusiastic and driven to help make a difference to people's lives.
