The role and ideal person:
Our Housing Support Workers are creative problem solvers that will work at the pace of the person or at the pace of any crisis problem, standing side by side with the people we support in the face of adversity. Housing related support is open to anyone who has problems that will potentially impact on their tenancy. We are currently recruiting for Relief Housing Support Workers across all our regions. As the ideal candidate you will need to have a full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work as well as. This is a support role not a care role, so no traditional caring tasks.
If you’re self-motivated, organised and feel you can be a positive role model, if you also possess the skills to be able to support and advise people on all possible home related issues (ranging from benefits to bills to life skills) confidently, this is the role for you.
What’s in it for you?
This can be a springboard into a permanent role, but if not you can choose to stay flexible. In return for your commitment, we offer you a flexible role where you will mainly work Monday to Friday between 8.00 am and 6.00 pm, however you will be expected to be flexible around the people we enable. You will manage your own weekly caseload of up to 15 clients (if full time), and can do your paperwork at home. You will have comprehensive induction and shadowing to ensure you are confident, ongoing training and a manager only a phone call away. The role gives you the opportunity to empower people to live better lives therefore very rewarding. You will also accrue holidays that relate to the numbers of hours you do.
You will be required to work with people with a variety of backgrounds and support requirements, including people with mental health problems, substance misuse, learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and vulnerable people including young, elderly and single and two-parent families. Experience and an understanding of working with these types of people would be advantageous.
For this role you will require an Enhanced DBS check, which we pay for.
