Finance Lead, Dysgu
Starting salary: £61,098 - £73,057 per annum
Location: Pan‑Wales (hybrid), with an office in Cardiff
Dysgu is Wales’ newly established national body for professional learning and leadership development across the education workforce.
Created by the Welsh Government and launched on 1 September 2025, Dysgu is building a new, coherent model of support for teachers, teaching assistants, school leaders, school improvement advisers and youth workers - one shaped directly by the voices and experiences of practitioners.
Its mission is to shape the future of education in Wales by ensuring every practitioner has access to high‑quality and impactful professional learning.
As Dysgu continues to grow, the organisation is looking to appoint an experienced and forward‑thinking Finance Lead to help build a high‑performing finance function at the heart of this new organisation. With a total grant in aid of £3.247m for 2025/26, strong financial stewardship is critical to Dysgu’s success.
This senior role provides leadership, technical expertise and strategic insight to support the Accounting Officer, Board and Leadership Team. You will oversee financial planning, reporting and controls; lead the management of our extensive grants programme; ensure efficient procurement and value for money; and maintain robust, trusted relationships with Welsh Government, grantees and auditors.
This is an opportunity to shape financial systems and processes from the ground up, influence organisation‑wide decision‑making and help build a national body with purpose, impact and public value at its core.
