Permanent Cook

1. Neath Port Talbot Council is looking for a Mobile cook; available when required to cover various Schools throughout Neath Port Talbot.
2. You'll Ensure that food is stored correctly and adjusting food orders that are generated centrally.
3. You will be expected to have knowledge of the requirements in relation to preparation and cooking in large, as well as small numbers of meals for children.

Main Purpose of Post

Responsible for the ordering, preparation, cooking and service of meals. Also responsible for the organisation and supervision of staff and to work to a high standard to provide a quality service.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Preparation and cooking of all food for service in line with The Healthy Eating in Schools Regulations 2013 and to the standards laid down by Management. Working in accordance with agreed schedules, and comply with all Food and Health and Safety Regulations.
• Setting up of Servery Counter and service of food, practising portion control as per guidelines, also ensuring good food presentation.
• When applicable, washing up of crockery, cutlery and kitchen utensils, ensuring good Health and Safety Practices.
• Maintenance of a clean work area by ensuring regular cleaning of all equipment, storerooms and ancillary areas.
• Organise, supervise and train staff to ensure even distribution of work and quality of service to the Customer. Identify staff and own training needs
• Promote and sell through encouragement and friendliness towards customers, and ensure safe Health and Safety Practices by:
• Reporting of all equipment not working properly.
• Observe Hygiene Regulations.
• Ensure that food is stored correctly.
• Adjusting food orders that are generated centrally.
• Maintenance of stock system, ensuring safekeeping of goods in stock.
• Processing of Administration as required by Management.
• Correct operation of Citrus.
• To undertake such duties as may reasonably be required of you commensurate with your salary grade and within your capabilities.
