South Wales Trunk Road Agent (SWTRA)

  1. South Wales Trunk Road Agent (SWTRA) is responsible for managing, maintaining and improving the strategic road network in South Wales on behalf of the Welsh Government
  2. Our service covers the four key areas of network management, asset management, area operations and business management.
  3. Our Network Management function is responsible for day-to-day monitoring and the availability of the road network.

The South Wales Trunk Road Agent is responsible for managing motorways and trunk roads in South Wales on behalf of the Welsh Government. The South Wales Trunk Road Agency was established on 1 April 2006, and by 1 April 2012 it was renamed the South Wales Trunk Road Agent.

SWTRA is managed from its head office in Llandarcy, off M4 Junction 43. It is supported by regional operational offices at St Clears and Wilcrick. Network control is operated from the South Wales Traffic Management Centre, Cardiff.
