Gower College Swansea has been awarded by the Welsh Assembly Government a £15m ‘Skills for Industry’ project. The project, which is backed with £9m from the European Social Fund, aims to help over 10,500 workers in South West Wales gain new skills and qualifications by offering targeted sectors, including the Health and Social Care Sector,  relevant training opportunities to assist in the development of the workforce. 

The Role
To support this initiative, we are seeking to appoint a highly professional and experienced Health and Social Care Trainer to join our expanding and successful Health and Social Care team to deliver and assess on a range of qualifications to include:

  • Level 2 and 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care
  • Level 5 QCF Management to the Care Sector
  • First Aid at Work

This is a fixed term role until December 2015

This role requires a proactive and flexible individual with ambition and a passion for people development along with a "can do" attitude and a desire to pass on knowledge within the Health & Social Care sector.

The Candidate
The ideal candidate we are seeking is an experienced practitioner within the Health & Social Care sector who is looking to advance their career in a training and development role.  You will have a broad knowledge and understanding of the sector including training needs within the NHS, and ideally also have experience of assessing and training health care professionals.

You will possess a level 5 qualification in Health and Social Care and A1 Assessor award and preferably hold a registered nurse qualification.

You will liaise with employers to identify the workforce needs and advise on appropriate qualification pathways and through regular review visits you will support and mentor learners in meeting the qualification frameworks, demonstrating their knowledge, skill and competency in the working environment against the required standard and compiling evidence based portfolios.  

You will also develop your skills and knowledge to be in a position to respond to sector needs designing bespoke programmes where specific additional courses are required.

You will ideally possess a Teaching or Training qualification or be willing to work towards achieving one. Essential for this role are good communication and IT skills, well developed written and oral skills, excellent organisational skills along with a flexible and reliable approach to work.  You will be a self motivator with an outgoing personality and ability to work both on your own initiative and as part of team.
