Our client based in Margam, Port Talbot are currently recruiting for a Skilled Shift Engineer

Salary: £25k
Shift: 4 on / 4 off (days and nights)

DIRECT RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Repair of any breakdown within the plant or site as requested.
  • To be proactive in avoiding downtime by effecting repairs or modifications prior to failure.
  • Carry out routine maintenance of plant as directed by the Engineering/Technical Manager.
  • Work to priority listing of machines as advised by the Shift Team Manager.
  • Comply with the Company Health and Safety Policy.
  • Ensure that housekeeping is maintained at the highest standard at all times.
  • Work as a team with Setter Operators to ensure efficient machine operation.
  • Operate machinery when requested.
  • Carry out any reasonable request by a member of the Management Team.
  • Minimise waste levels to achieve business targets.
  • Optimise machine efficiency.
  • Attend training courses as deemed necessary during time off periods.
  • Suggest improvements to machine/plant operation that will enhance productivity.
  • Ensure machinery is able to produce to quality specifications and production targets.
  • Participate in any absence call-in procedure.

The role is a hands on position and you will be required to plan develop and implement machine modifications, carry out repairs to plant and machiner and monitor the production equipment and complete agreed maintenance scheduled workloads. You must be able to change over and set up machinery when product changes are required ensuring that downtime is reduced and efficiencies are increased.

The ideal candidates will have proven experience within a production environment along with engineering knowledge of Siemens PLC systems, Servo Drives, Process Control equipment, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Educated to a minimum City and Guilds in an Electrical or Mechanical discipline, a HNC/HND Electrical qualification, would be an advantage, you should be able to demonstrate hands on experience within a major production environment.

The ideal candidate must be an effective team member and flexibility is essential.
