Job Elements: -

• The Purchasing Controller's function is the management of the purchasing function to ensure that the business has the right product, at the right time in the right place at the right cost.
• This responsibility covers both raw materials to be used in the manufacturing process and finished bought in goods and services.
• It is essential to ensure that all products made, developed or sourced are exactly to the correct specification in all facets and on time as required for the manufacturing process or as necessitated by the needs of the customer.
• Work with sales, design and production to ensure that cost, complexity or risk is managed out of the product prior to it being specified.
• Control and management of pricing and manage agreements, delivery times and quality in line with specifications, agreements and capacity.
• Maintain accurate specifications of products and manage any change to product lines with the supplier whilst advising sales team of any timing issues, cost aspects and solutions.
• Deal with supply side queries (including price) and always seek on going continuous improvement and lessons learnt.
• Set and manage supplier KPI's and ensuring these are met and achieved.
• Manage the supply base taking into account the company's and the customer's requirements for Audits, Ethical Approach, up to date product safety etc.
• Undertake UK and foreign travel as required to support the buying and supply process.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Commercially aware and astute.
• Strong Negotiation Skills
• Background within FMCG procurement or Packaging, Print etc
• Experience of liaising and trading with the Far East.
• Proven experience within Procurement/Logistics
• Used to working with complex products within finite timelines.
• Understand the complexity of manufacturing in UK and/or overseas.
